Coolamon Creative is a small creative business based in Alice Springs with clients from all over Australia.


Run by two sisters who share a strong passion for visual storytelling, we specialise in producing high quality and engaging resources through graphic design, illustration, photography, videography, 2D motion graphics and graphic recording (visual scribing).


We are 100% Aboriginal owned and operated.

THE COOLAMON CREATIVE TEAM


Samantha and Gabrielle are both descended from the Dagoman people in Katherine, with connections to Gurindji and Jawoyn, and have spent many years growing up in remote Aboriginal communities in the Top End and Central Australia.

SAMANTHA CAMPBELL

SAMANTHA CAMPBELL

Samantha studied Graphic Design in Melbourne and worked as a freelance Graphic Designer for four years before illustrating her first children's book Alfred's War, written by Rachel Bin Salleh (Alfred's War was later shortlisted for two literary awards). Since then, she has continued illustrating children's books for publishers such as Magabala Books, Allen & Unwin, Hardie Grant, AIATSIS and Hachette Australia.


Samantha holds a Diploma of Graphic Design and a Diploma of Leadership and Management. She is listed as a professional illustrator on Illustrators Australia website and the ASA (Australian Society of Authors) style file. Samantha also has a background in project management for various projects related to Aboriginal Health. Check out more of Samantha’s illustration work here.

GABRIELLE FRY

GABRIELLE FRY

Gabrielle is experienced in the areas of video production, script writing, publication design, illustration, motion graphic design and photography. She has worked in various multimedia and visual communication roles within SA and NT Government, and Aboriginal organisations. She has co-directed a documentary film for NITV on the stolen generation and attended a script writing course with prominent Aboriginal filmmakers in South Australia.


She has a Bachelor of Arts (Communication and Media Management) from the University of South Australia, where she studied Film and Television and volunteered on TV talk-shows as the Director’s assistant. Gabrielle is passionate about developing resources for First Nation Australians that are visually engaging, culturally sensitive, and accessible.
